The Idea

Here is where I got the idea.

Back in the in the late 70’s a TV series aired called “Buck Rogers in the 25th century”.

For some time I have had my eye on this beauty. Based on the flying speed boats that came out a couple year back I decided this would work along the same lines. I built a mock up of what I thought would work. It was crude and fast to build. The idea was KIS (keep it simple) as I went along. Usually I produce CAD drawings to work things out. In this case I just built it out of scrap because I like the feel of the sculpture, gives me better insight.

I first started with researching on the web for the TV series “Buck Rogers in the 25th century”. I then search for models for details on the star ship fighter.  Many places where visited to gather the info I needed. Here is one of the links.

I found some details on the model produces on the fighter and some pictures to help with the details. I was able to build something close. Part of the modification was to accommodate the need for power plant. I have yet to determine a suitable configuration. I am considering pusher prop or ducted fan units. Both configurations will probably be looking into vector thrust manoeuvring.

I also posted on RC GROUPS -  Foamies (Scratch built) my intension to build some time back May of 2007

This has been left unfinished for sometime now. Definitely something to revisit, as a mater of fact I had joined a contest in Jan 2009 the Micro Pusher contest. I though I would have a chance in making this fly. Again it remains as a static model.

More on the micro model details  and the RC GROUPS FORUM details.
